Without hesitation, the woman purchased the abandoned city instead of an apartment and moved there to live.
Cisco didn’t seem like a real city. It consisted of a handful of abandoned and dilapidated houses, with windows overlooking the majestic La Sal mountains.
Eileen came across the city by chance while driving; a price tag was hanging on one of the houses.

Indeed, the nominal owner of Cisco was more than happy to get rid of illiquid properties in the middle of the desert.
For the first year, the woman had to stay in a trailer while renovating a nearby cabin.
A couple of years later, Eileen’s story was featured in several magazines, and tourists learned about the abandoned city. They occasionally visit to see the hermit, allowing the woman to earn from her own city.
Living in a secluded place is not for everyone. However, for some, the absence of people is quite a decisive advantage.
