5 years ago, Eileen realized that her savings were enough for a small studio apartment. However, with the same money, she could buy an entire city, even though it had been abandoned for a long time.
Without hesitation, the woman purchased the abandoned city instead of an apartment and moved there to live.
Cisco didn’t seem like a real city. It consisted of a handful of abandoned and dilapidated houses, with windows overlooking the majestic La Sal mountains.
Eileen came across the city by chance while driving; a price tag was hanging on one of the houses.
“It seems to be the only house in the entire country that fits my budget,” Eileen thought.
Indeed, the nominal owner of Cisco was more than happy to get rid of illiquid properties in the middle of the desert.
For the first year, the woman had to stay in a trailer while renovating a nearby cabin.
A couple of years later, Eileen’s story was featured in several magazines, and tourists learned about the abandoned city. They occasionally visit to see the hermit, allowing the woman to earn from her own city.
Living in a secluded place is not for everyone. However, for some, the absence of people is quite a decisive advantage.
