When he was only 10 years old, six years ago, a child was seen selling food to support his mother, who is the sole provider for the family.
He made the decision to support her in their home business.
A well-known YouTuber named FS Channel, who helps people start small businesses, has just discovered the boy.
They recently found out that the young man is now 16 years old.
Ilham, a young man, has been selling grilled sticky rice and Nasi lemak for six years in the same location, at Setiawangsa Station of the Rapid KL Light Rail Transit (LRT).
According to FS Channel, Ilham has been assisting his mother for about 6 years to support her as he felt bad about how hard she worked to make ends meet.
Brother Ilham, as he is called, claimed that his mother prepares the grilled sticky rice and takes great care to preserve the flavor and texture of the rice cake so they can continue to sell it at a reasonable price.
“The grilled sticky rice has a solid texture and delicious flavor for only $0.25 US (approximately 1.00 RM). According to Brother Ilham, the roasted sticky rice topping is cooked by Mother for 4 to 6 hours.”
BuzzKini, a media outlet, reports that Brother Ilham’s 20-year-old older brother has been found.
His name is Firdaus Muhd Fazil. He claims that in order to help his mother take care of his three younger siblings, he was forced to drop out of high school in fifth grade and was unable to take the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams.
While his mother prepares meals for the day’s sales, Firdaus also assists her.
He mentioned that his younger siblings continue to go to school and only help sell their goods once they return home.
Firdaus revealed that his mother is not a Malaysian citizen. The five members of his family currently reside in a one-room rented house in Keramat, which costs $89.00 US (approximately 400 RM) per month.
She is originally from Medan, Indonesia. To meet all their needs, the family business only generates about $330.50 USD (approximately 1,500 RM) each month.
