“I am overwhelmed by love and I am so grateful!” says the mother. In this moment of joy, I would like to gaze at them infinitely. Perhaps you have seen many postpartum photos online.
But this series of photographs shows something you probably have never seen before: the joy of a mother in seeing her child, born and conceived by a surrogate mother.
Kim Overton was diagnosed with fibroid tumors, but she underwent surgery that allowed her to give birth to a child in 2012.
However, when she decided to have a second child, doctors told her that it was almost impossible for her to become pregnant at this point.
Kim started considering surrogacy.
After discussing the issue with her family, she found out that her cousin’s daughter, Sydney, would be willing to do the job.
Both Kim and her husband were incredibly moved. “Sidney seemed like an angel to us,” says Kim.
“Without her, we couldn’t have a child. What she did was an act of a selfless and loving person.”
