Even after being away for 70 years. And that came as a complete surprise to them both.

Before ending up in the same nursing home, Boardman and Gill—best friends since childhood—had not spoken to one another in many years.

Gill was astonished to recognize a familiar face when she first arrived at Crispin Court Care Home in Stafford, West Midlands.

Boardman, an old classmate, was there.

The women were overjoyed to see each other when they confirmed each other’s identities.

“And she said, ‘Are you Nora Keelan?'” Boardman recalls. “I didn’t recognize her,” Gill said. “And I said, ‘Yes.'”

Boardman revealed her identity. “I couldn’t believe it. I really couldn’t believe it,” Boardman said.

The women said they were truly happy to be together again and felt as if they hadn’t missed a beat.

“I never thought I would see Eileen again after we parted ways as children, so it was so nice to see her.

I couldn’t believe that she would now be living in the same care home as me and that we would see each other every day.

I feel lucky to have my best friend back in my life, it feels like nothing has changed,” Boardman said.
