After being wed for 71 years, Herbert and Marilyn Francis DeLagle passed away on the same day, within 12 hours of one another.
In the American town of Waynesboro, the couple first connected at a tavern. Francis was 16 years old, while Herbert was 22.
After that, Herbert visited Francis’ workplace at the institute to speak with her.
He eventually worked up the nerve to propose to the girl and go on a date to the neighborhood movie theater.
The young man asked his girlfriend to marry him after a year, and she responded, “Of course!”
They arrived to the chapel an hour late, which nearly caused their wedding to be postponed.
Later, Francis said in an interview that Herbert was perpetually late.
