Melissa had nine spontaneous miscarriages, and after unsuccessfully trying fertility drugs and in vitro fertilization, the doctors gave up.
Melissa felt unworthy because she had been denied the opportunity to have children, which she considered the most important thing.
Her sister, Lisa Auten, offered to help her. She used artificial insemination to conceive.
According to the doctors, two embryos should be implanted simultaneously, as it was possible that one or both wouldn’t successfully attach.
But the two children were born, bringing great joy to the women and the doctors. They named them Tierney and Ashlynn.
They are still quite young. Melissa stated that she never wanted to become a mother, but her sister had no problem doing it.
