The Gilm family has a unique adoption story. The couple Kevin and Dominica performed a true miracle.
Having promised to take care of a completely uncontrollable boy for a while, the couple suddenly realized that the boy had become another son to them.
Kevin and Dominica did their best to give the wild boy a new family.
And they succeeded! Now, many years later, Andrew Gilm has become completely unrecognizable.
The couple doesn’t deny that it was tough for them, but they managed it.
When Kevin and Dominica first saw little Andrew, the child was only 10 years old.
The Gilms participated in the foster family program.
Andrew was an orphan, and the compassionate couple simply protected the boy for a certain period of time.
The situation with Andrew was terrible. The boy was a “complicated” child.
During his stay with the Gilms, the government found two adoptive families for the child.
But both times, the potential parents abandoned him just a couple of weeks after the adoption!
When Andrew returned to the Gilms for the second time, Dominica decided to take a closer look at his case.
It turned out that Andrew had been to 25 foster families!
And each time, potential parents couldn’t handle the violent nature of the child.
Andrew was denied 25 times in a row! It seems even a saint would be disheartened in such a situation.
But Kevin and Dominica wanted to try. The Gilms tried to become not just a foster family for an orphan but a full-fledged family!
Now Kevin and Dominica acknowledge that their son Jock played a major role in saving Andrew. Jock became very close to the orphan.
The boys called each other brothers even before the Gilms decided to adopt him.
Although the first two years of their adoption were really difficult for the Gilms.
Kevin and Dominica didn’t give up, and sometimes it seemed that only the friendship with Jock prevented Andrew from running away.
The couple’s calm educational approach eventually succeeded. And now Andrew and Jock are equal sons of the Gilm family!
Now the boys are 14 years old.
The former orphan still remembers the day when Kevin and Dominica took him out for a walk, pretending to meet a new foster family.
And coming back home, Andrew realized that he would stay with the Gilms forever.
